DYOS X.ii - East Front poster by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)
Advert-cum-cast round-up for the Eastern Front in DRAW Your Own Story 10.5's rip-off of the Second World War, originally sketched October '10. Much like in WWII, the most vicious fighting takes place in eastern Europe; Kurt Schäffer, one of the Space Nazis' only competent commanders, is pitted against the full force of the Eastern Union as well as detractors from his own side.
--- The players, left to right, top to bottom ---
Thorvald of Lym (poster), the head honcho of the Union who spends most of the war outside his own federation;
Maxim Brusilov, Marshal of the Union who ends up running the show in Thorvald's absence;
General Anatoliy Koldanev, who briefly takes over from Brusilov when the marshal disappears to pursue "private contacts";
Feldmarschall Kurt Schäffer, a war-weary vet from before the Space Nazis were the Space Nazis but who nevertheless intends to go down with the ship;
General Aleksei Vasilii Guba, who mostly just shows up for cameos and doesn't play a major role in the story;
Generalmajor Ernust Ekkehard, an arrogant, and ultimately failed commander whom Schäffer would rather remain his personal annoyance than a military liability;
General Władysław Czciborycz, commander of the Polish Army Group, who has a deeply personal motive for liberating Warsaw as quickly as possible;
General-Polkovnik Kirill Gedeonin, an officer deeply entrenched with the special forces, described as Brusilov's "inquisitor";
Hauptmann/Kapitan Rudolph Krieger, a German national working with the Spetsnaz who goes rogue after the fall of Germany to the Nazis; he has a history with Schäffer and Ekkehard that has been revealed in bits and pieces.
It's an older sketch and there are a few flaws that stand out, but overall I'm still happy with it and have used it for reference a number of times. I regret to say, however, I don't think I've ever drawn Schäffer's uniform as detailed either before or since.
I do so love the G36 though.
