Anyway, here is something that is NOT three years old. Concept art. Sonic at the age of nine, from my Sonic 1 novelization "Sonic the Hedgehog"

Done quickly to test out style and a few other things. Actual size 1024/768. Sketched, drawn and painted in Photoshop 5.

Uh, er... it's... a Metara Chao.

Okay... this was the first pic I did in a program called OpenCanvas, which I'm sure everyone reading this has already heard of... suffice it to say it's new to me because I'm a clueless newbie. I learned my craft on Photoshop, and OC's layers make me go " AAARGHAAARGHAAARGHWTF???!!?!"

That said, I love the look. I'm definitely going to try and clean up/develop my work in OC. I'm moving away from using bright colours too - some of my older pics look horribly oversaturated. I learned from someone here that the grayer side of the palette can look nicer and more realistic.

Sketched and outlined in Photoshop ('cause I'm a coward) and painted with the Watercolor brush and a great deal of swearing in OpenCanvas 1.1.

Mortal Kombat fanart is thin on the ground... but I don't know why. Look at him! Look! That, ladies and gentlemen, is a sexy biyatch. Painted in Adobe Photoshop 5 with Wacom and the Paintbrush tool. The lovely Raiden has now knocked PSO off my desktop to become my latest pin-up star.

The main problem area imo is the hands. They looked all right in the sketch, but I muffed it up while painting and couldn't fix it. Also I'm having trouble painting very small details with the Wacom tablet. I guess the only cure is to work bigger: he was only painted at 1024/768.

Gift art for QQQ of Sonic V. We like Deadly Alliance. If you're not familiar with Mortal Kombat's storyline (and I wouldn't blame you because it ties itself in knots half the time), Scorpion is an undead ninja. During the early games he was trying to kill Sub Zero, believing that Subbers killed him and his clan - it was really the sorceror Quan Chi. So now Scorpion is after Quan Chi instead...

Painted entirely in Photoshop 6.1 with a Wacom tablet. This was the first time I painted a picture inside Photoshop, instead of scanning line art and colouring that, so it was a bit of a learning experience. It's weird in places, but then I was new at it. My Wacom skills are starting to improve with use and I now like my computer painted work better than the indifferent line art I produce on paper. Can't ink to save my life...

Quick and silly image inspired by something which really happened - I got disconnected from AOL IM six times in one minute and was then locked out for half an hour for making too many attempts to connect.
