Another image drawn for Kuroiyousei at the Monthly Random Character Art Exchange - http://community.livejournal.com/mrcaex - I run at LJ, this time a normal round one. Inked outlines, Copic marker colouring, and minor touchups (highlights on eyes and hair; edges of clouds) with white ink. On 160g/m² bristol paper. I used light purples (Mauve Shadow and Pale Lilac) for shading on her skin and the light shirt and leggings, and dark blues (Lapislazuli and Prussian Blue) on the dark brown tunic, blending them in by drawing with the other colours over them. As to the background, I first coloured it Pale Blue, then drew in the clouds with the colourless blender (added just a touch of white ink later on the top right edges), and the mountains with light shades of grey. An image drawn for the Monthly Random Character Art Exchange I run at LJ - http://community.livejournal.com/mrcaex/It was an "adoption", meaning Kuroiyousei, the character's owner, had not received art from the person who originally was assigned to draw for her. The idea came up with a bit of free associating: There was some messing with potions mentioned in his description, and since the concept with the huge bubbling cauldron is a bit silly in my mind, I chibified him, because I think chibies or other cartoonyfied versions lend themselves more to silliness. Another Daily Drawing prompt, "Draw a feather".
The left feather was drawn using Polychromos colour pencils, the left using pastel pencils. I'm a bit disappointed how light the "black" paper turned out. |

The eggplant grows one long stalk, which at first is curled up and straightens out while growing longer, in the centre of a cushion of very thick, round leaves. The stalk bears few, narrow leaves, and the blossoms and fruits. The blossoms are at first view indistinguishable from buds, the hard-shelled fruits are white. When ripe, they fall on the cushoin of leaves, where the chick inside can hatch, to be adopted by a nearby hen.
You didn’t really think chickens lay eggs, did you? That’s unhygienic. XP
Again, I blame Mutt.

The day before yesterday, Mutt suggested some rather unusual dragons to me, including an eggplant dragon. Today, the Daily Drawing prompt was "draw an eggplant". I can take a hint when it's obvious enough. ;)
Mostly markers and colourpencils on drawing paper, pretty much A4 sized. Colouring sky with pencils is boring. |

I'd been meaning to draw a daffodil for quite a while already, so the Daily Drawing prompt helped me to finally get to it.
Ink (mostly brush pen, dip pen with a "super elastic" nib for the lines on the the stem and petals, marker for the baclground) and a bit of digital drawing to turn it from a trapeze into more of a rectangle/square. Drawn on a postcard over its whole width. |
