Hit up this Pokemon Me thingie when it sailed across my Tumblr dash a few days back. I typed in my name and ended up getting “Erik is a wise Pichu.” Although I'm more wiseass than wise, I just couldn’t resist drawing this up.

In retrospect, I think I went a little too overboard when I finished this one up. It went from being something I wanted to a polish on real quick-like to an all out "Light table and color!" project. Still feels good to get it out of my system, though.

You can see the original doodle here. [LinkTastic!]

Pichu is property of The Pokemon Company (or Game Freak or whatever they're calling themselves now).

Last night, I was randomly doodling in my sketchbook while at my friend’s house. Just a page of heads. The more I drew, the more I started thinking about this eyeless character and how I haven’t really drawn a monster girl in a bit and slowly a character started to evolve from it.

Not wanting to lose that mojo, I started drawing this.

She ended up being more androgynous than I had originally planned on her being but it works. I’ll post more as she evolves but yeah… here’s an ohaguro-bettari in a suit. = )

Like the last one, I was going through some old artwork and decided to take a whack at an older character of mine - Sin.

This pic also took way longer than it should have. Unlike the rest of the crew, Sin currently belongs to a friend of mine (the girl she was based on). I tend to treat her a bit differently than the rest when it comes to details and the like. Another thing that slowed this down with trying to draw her guitar properly and trying to get her hands to look like she knows what she's doing. It's not perfect but I'm happy with as close as I got.

All in all, I like how she came out. A good end to this series of pics.

I drew up a more anthro-styled pony a few days ago. I dug the pic enough to slap on some digital inks and whatnot. It came out alright and it got me back into the swing of doing artwork again. Not too shabby. = )

The original doodle and the lines for this were done seven months ago.

Why did it take me so long before I got around to coloring this one? I’m not sure, really. I like the final version of it. I know she’s supposed to be an off-white/pale yellow color but, when I used it, it looked like she was sick. Straight white wasn’t much better. Instead, I ended up with a happy medium.

So yeah… seven months later, I Finally finished this pic. = )

This pic took way longer than it should have. From sketch to finish, it took a week to do under an hours worth of work. Needless to say, I'm still a bit miffed at myself for dragging my heels on it for that long. The one good thing that came of it is I think I'm starting to get the hang of dropping details like folds without going nuts on shading them.

Like the last one, I was going through some old artwork and decided to take a whack at a long forgotten character of mine - the oft-unemployed Tim the Polar Bear.

I tried to fix something that had always bugged me about his design - his body. I want him to look big without looking too fat. Like he's built through his core and has some padding.

Not sure if I got it but it's an start.

Why a Dry Bones? 'Cause he's the one enemy I remember that could catch me off guard more than the Lakitu in the series. Plus, they're animated piles of bones that can't easily die. How cool it That! = )

I started this a bit ago but for some strange reason only got around to finishing it tonight. o.O

I had so many ideas for this harpy but they all changed whenever I put pencil to paper.
- I wanted her to be whimsically dancing with a broom. Instead, she has a bird singing on her wing.
- I wanted her to have more bird-like legs. Instead, she has cartoon-y bird feet.
- I wanted her arms to be more like feathered arms with big hands. Instead, I ended up giving her Disney-style wing arms with feathers for "fingers".

It didn't come out like I had originally planned but I like it all the same.

I'm not the only one around who feels that Frosty the Snowman was essentially a nice monster, right? o.O

I mean, he's pretty much a golem made of snow. He's just brought to life with a magic hat instead of the word 'emet'. So, I used that idea and made my own snowgirl who looks about how I would expect something suddenly brought to life with that figure to look.

Been a while since I last did one of these, huh? = P

Just a little ATC doodle of Prophet in a hoodie. Oddly enough, I’ve been drawing him more and more lately with a content look on his face. A stark contrast to the sourpuss look I generally carry. I’d try and change either myself or ol’ Proph here to fall in line but I kinda’ dig that my little cartoon character is a bit happier outwardly than I am.

This one is a particularly odd one for me.

Like most of these, it started out fairly mindless. I was just sorta' drawing until I hit a point where I had no real clue where it was going. It was fairly robotic/puppet-like so I rolled with it. Later on, I noticed I left off an arm and a leg. My solution: Have her being constructed! = D

As for the background... yeah. Your guess is as good as mine. Old school religious imagery mixed with a half built puppet girl and tinted sepia 'cause it works.

Not sure why I decided to make her a businesswoman out of her but I like it. It makes for a funny concept when you think about it. I don’t think of her as being evil or anything but I could easily picture her having a business card that reads “Systems Analyst/Man Eater”. = )

I pretty much quit caring about the laptop’s keyboard toward the end. It’s not that I can’t be bothered with drawing the keys, it’s that the last time I did so, I spent more time planning them out to be perfect than drawing the rest of the picture (well, the panel).
