A hand-drawn Future Tale pin-up piece I did for fun, and knew it wouldn't be done justice in color unless Ivy Beth Gladstone handled it. She did a phenomonal job, I absolutely love how this turned out. The design of the guns Enigma's holding are a nod to Jack Kirby's "New Gods."

Live drawing of my girlfriend Elysia. At the time she was a bit tired, which actually makes this drawing more charming to me, because she looks really relaxed. Or bored. Probably the latter, seeing as modelling for a drawing is a rather painful business...

One of three illustrations I did for my senior year's high school yearbook of the school mascot, the spartan.

This was the first and my favorite of the three. I realized that I had only seen one rendition of a female spartan at our school, even though most of the really progressively active students were women. So I had a go at it, how'd I do?

One of three illustrations I did for my senior year's high school yearbook of the school mascot, the spartan.

I decided that one of the three pieces should be in the style that the student body was used to seeing from me in things like my newspaper political cartoons, and this was the result. I've heard more than one person say they'd like to see it on a t-shirt...

One of three illustrations of my former high school's mascot, the spartan, for my senior year's yearbook. This one I was going for a minimalist approach, using a brush pen for just thick strokes that would convey the entire mascot image.

This was drawn for an Easter Sunday update on my web site. There were three easter eggs hidden on my web site, and if you found and clicked one you'd get a special goodie like a comic strip or game or something. I've been taking the easter rabbit illustration around to a few grade school appearances to a warm reception, so I decided it deserved a gallery placement.

Another try at a digital self portrait... not much of a story or thought process behind this piece, it just sort of happened. I like it, though. I'm still not sure why it's blue-purple...

I received two albums from my aunt in Tennessee by an unsigned band called The Royal Bangs (formerly the Suburban Urchins). I really dig their stuff, have kept in contact with them, and one day this visual just sort of popped into my head when listening to one of their discs. So here it is.

This is the cover for the second issue of Hilhilites, which has been so horribly delayed that I decided to post this image even though the issue isn't out yet. The cover story is "worldview of america," and so I went for a simplistic representation of that.

I did a ton of observational drawings in the last several months, they're kind of hard to transfer to digital form so a few of them are just trickling onto the site... this one is of Lennard Noller, one of the smartest guys I know and quite funny as well. These drawings usually take between 40 and 60 minutes.

I was bored last night, I had been reading some old comics, and one that I thought was pretty underrated was a series from '79 (with later attempted revivals called) "Nova." So I decided to draw Nova battling issue two's nemesis, "The Condor." Nova is the one who's flying.

If I could change one thing about this, I wouldn't have his fists touching.

I'm REALLY excited about this piece... you may notice that the coloring style is DRASTICALLY different. This is because I didn't color it... I did all the line art, and it was colored by a friend of mine and uber-talented artist, Ivy Beth Gladstone (http://ivybeth.deviantart.com). She did an absolutely fantastic job, I really dig it. If you can't tell from my linework, the blue-ish robot has just decapitated the red robot, and is listening to it's last words as it sits in his hand.

I'm doing a full-page article for my school's newspaper on the best albums of 2003. I needed an illustration, and thought it would be cool to do one of my altered photograph images for it. This one was done of my friend Kiry, who volunteered (wearing Ryan R.'s headphones). I really like how this turned out! She looks gorgeous. The reason it's all grays is because the paper isn't printed in color.

This is Gregor, the protagonist of Kafka's classic and vaguely existentialist novella "The Metamorphosis." The guy wakes up one morning and finds that he is now a large insect. So yeah, here's my interpretation of what he looks like.

My school paper is called "Hilhilites," and this year they switched to more of a "tabloid" format and asked me to illustrate and design the cover. I came up with this... the feature article was done by two students writing counterpoints, either Pro- or Con-Iraq. The caricatures on the front are of the pro-iraq columnist and the con-iraq columnist, respectively.
