February
February by @Jinx (Catherine Fitzsimmons)

Inspiration has hit me with a sack of bricks. It hurts, but it's getting this calendar done. Here's February and she's in a cheongsam in honor of the Chinese new year, which falls on February 9th in 2005.

Excellent cel-style coloring, nice and clean, plus textures on walls and table... some of the best in that style I've seen all day. The doorframe behind her shouldn't be quite so blurry: if she's in focus, it's close enough to her that it should be in focus too.

Thanks for a great comment. The backgrounds of this series are supposed to be as simple as they can be to set scenery without actually providing a specific setting to the focus of the picture, the catgirl. I couldn't get too vague in this picture, however, or else you wouldn't even have much of an idea of scenery, which is why the edges are blurred as they are. I'm not quite sure what to do to balance the two out so it doesn't look awkward, though I'm thinking toning down the colors in the background a little might help. If you have any other suggestions to improve that, I'd love to hear 'em.

Thanks again.

Ah! Jinx! She's so cute! I love her happy, surprised expression. Darn, but I'm happy with how fast these are coming out, and how well done, too! Man, I am envious of your mad hand-drawing skills. I mean, I can't draw hands. Period. Those roses are AMAZING! I really, really like them. It's cute how you have incorporated both Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year into this one. I love her dress!

I am definetly looking forward to the rest of these!

Let's go over the things you rock at...the hands, so much better than mine....the dress, it looks so real...the bouquet, I LOVE roses, and you made them perfect...her legs, like supermodel's...her hair and tail, awsome fluffiness and color...and her expression, just plain CUTE!!! I'm always rooting for you! Lilaka
