Deputy mayor, Callie Briggs from that way cool show "SWAT Kats The Radical Squadron". While I don't know if Megakat City gets snow, (they never did a show with snow) I just thought it might be interesting and fun to do picture of snowy Megakat City. Callie
looks nice and warm in her winter coat, and scarf.

From the looks of it, she has her briefcase in hand and is out to do
the usual business as deputy mayor.

Brr! Enjoy everyone!

Is she actually? Gonna take the chance? Her gaze isn't off, it's your way, and she mad. She's pretty close to the wall, could be hiding a tie point, and be bound to that... Or she might just be holding her arms behind her. Could be rope or chain typing her... or she's just holding it to try and kill you if you get to close.

I was doing some world building, and, after again changing some ages because I creeped myself out again, I finally settled on the reason why Snowhawk would have finally been sold from her first owner. See, she'd been dumped into the breeding program. This has been long established. But I never figured out why she was sold, especially for so little.

The last attempted breeding. She's been in the program for over 6 years at this point. Never a pleasant mare to deal with. She's gone after a few stallions, most of her handlers, and generally is just... you get the idea. This last time... They'd tried to pair her with this particular stallion before, but she wasn't having it again. She attempted to kill him. So, the decision was made to not risk it again, and to take her to be sold.

This particular image... is not that. But it's inspired by such, and maybe something I toss into the story later. You can easily tell that it's not because she does have the scar on her neck, which post-dates that incident by more than 9 years.

Unless it gets nuked (for nip nops/copyrighted music), there's an (age-restricted) timelapse here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0iOYUZiD4U

I’ve been feeling very not confident in my art lately. It’s preventing me from finishing part of a remaining commission (the other is I haven’t gotten the last ref/infos from the commissioner…)

After I touched up Snowhawk’s ref sheet for her novel version, I decided it just… doodle. And I had the foresight to open up OBS and record/stream. So, little under 6 hours later, we have this.

I’m surprised it was that short of time. However… I took some shortcuts for coloring. The biggest one was greatly simplifying my shading/highlighting technique. No blending/blurring/smudging, except with my watercolor brush on the layer I was working on.

The downside… This looks like trash at fullsize. However, when scaled down, it’s fine. Which was a thing I needed to work on, because I tend to obsess over the teeny, tiny uncolored pixels that literally no one knows are there but me. So I settled for “good enough”

… I had the feeling, while sketching, that I was again channeling like… 2003 me. Which I’m glad. She was a lot more confident with art than I am.

This was intended to be a doodle. No actual background, just basid shading… Then @banrai reminded me that, during that time, I used to do some nice stonework so… she got a background.

I extended the canvas down as I was working, since I needed a bit more room for her hooves… then I liked the offset and just left it.

If you’ve followed my art for a long time, you might recall a piece from 2001 of a younger Snowhawk in a similar-ish pose. Most of you, however, I would guess don’t know what I’m talking about. For those that do not, take a look at this link: https://i.imgur.com/549BBlj.png

And now I present to you the S-F133 Falchion aerospace superiority fighter. This baby was just developed by the Terran Republic's R&D department. The Falchion combines the sheer firepower and missile hardpoint loadout of a heavy fighter (not to mention the shielding), the maneuverability of a medium fighter, and the speed of a light interceptor. However, in order to make all those concessions possible... it also has the hull integrity of a light interceptor. However, so long as those shields remain active, the Falchion is a very well-armed and defended aerospace fighter. The design of the Falchion from an odd blend of the Sukhoi Su-47 and the Act on Instinct dropship from the game Destiny.

The S-F133 Falchion aerospace superiority is the concept of Terry Sender.

Next up (and this is actually more of a completed piece of art for this aerospace fighter), we have the S-F107E Katana medium multirole aerospace fighter. With a mix of light and heavy cannon mounts and a decent blend of missiles and a pretty decent acceleration rate, the Katana is basically the F-14 Tomcat of the Terran Republic, though the design is more based off of a combination of the F-15 Strike Eagle and a Dassault Rafale. The combination of cannon and missile hardpoints keep the Katana effectively your all-purpose aerospace fighter that can handle just about any mission tossed its way.

This is it. The design that got everything rolling again with Space Wings — the Terran Republic light interceptor, the S-F122B Stiletto. Based heavily off of the design of the Northop/McDonnell Douglas bid for the ATF back in the 1990s. Sure, the YF-23 Black Widow II failed to win the bid for the next ATF of the United States, but it gets to live a new sort of glory here with my Space Wings project.

As I was close to finishing the story for this issue of my Dungeons & Dragons cartoon fan comic/Manga, I decided I would sort out an issue preview cover.

In this issue, Sheila has come to terms with her new altered state of being part vampire, but is still struggling with how to move forward and what she must do about her needs as half vampire! How can she get someone to allow her to drink their blood, or are there any alternatives and what abilities does she have?

I'm a huge fan of the Madoka Magica series so I had to create fan art for it. When I watched Madoka Magica: Rebellion, I thought it would be fun to do fan art for it because of the crazy imagery in the movie.

I had a lot of fun painting her. I also like working in black, white, and a little color because it makes important features like her eyes and the spider lilies stand out more. ⠀

This is my vampire Sheila design, for when in my fan comic/Manga she gets turned into a vampire, or more accurately, a half vampire, she is not a full vampire, due to certain reasons which I will leave for the issue when it happens.

Due to her circumstances, she has only certain vampire traits, the most obvious it the need to consume blood from living creatures, however this is only a necessity, she does not have an overbearing thirst, it is merely to appease her vampire side, she still has to eat food like a regular human, but her bite will not produce another vampire. She does not have heightened hearing, nor smell, she does have some enhanced vision and alertness though, her strength is also increased, along with her speed and agility, but she cannot scales walls like some spider, also she heals much faster and is immune to poisons. Her personality has also been affected, she is more confident and assertive, though she is not overconfident and she is now more physical in her approach to life, cherishes every moment. She also has no issues with any religious symbols and other methods of inflicting harm on or repelling a vampire, this is again due to her still being alive... and technically still human. Lastly, while she has now got tougher skin and heals faster, she is still susceptible to extreme strikes, however if she can consume enough blood in that situation, she will be able to heal and recover from her wounds as long as they are not too severe!

So, that is the new vampire Sheila, look forward to the issue where she appears, issue 20, Blood Ties! However the above version will only be from issue 24, the Dead of Night!

Interlude.

The Earwing, Otopteryx volitans, is one of a number of now-extinct mammals native to the Hy-yi-yi Archipelago in the Pacific. Isolated since the Late Cretaceous, the Hi-yi-yi Islands developed a number of endemic mammals that evolved very strange noses. Of these "Snouters", the Rhinogrades were amongst the oddest. Many species had evolved their noses into one or more "legs", their traditional hind legs often atrophying and their forelegs turning to grooming and grasping instead of locomotion.

One of these strange creatures was the earwing, a Snouter capable of limited flight using its ears once it had launched itself into the air with its nose. Their fur was very colorful, coming in a variety of colors. Because they tend to jump and fly hindquarters first, this one is fleeing away from the viewer.

Alas, the Hi-yi-yi Islands sank beneath the waves thanks to distant nuclear testing, accidentally wiping out this weird branch of the mammal family tree.

W is for Warbler. The biggest, baddest, and rough an' toughenist of New World Warblers, the Texas warbler enjoys light afternoon snacks of tarantulas, bats, and small snakes.

Could use some blacks for contrasts, but I've worked on this for too long tonight. The Texas warbler comes from Ben, Cathryn, and John Sill's parody book A Field Guide to Little-Known & Seldom-Seen Birds of North America. Because you just know I've got to layer gags on occasion.

Interlude.

Garden parties aren't Amethyst's normal habitat, but this time, she's game to give it a go. She's not wearing any flowers because I haven't figured out which ones she ought to wear. I'm not even sure she has a favorite flower.

What I really wanted to draw for #23. The new pens helped a lot. Picture inspired by Sandy Schreiber's Garden Party Girls.

Interlude.

They say the sea witches of Harrias Slough dissolve into water when they die. That's balderdash. They only dissolve into water when they're bored.

As I promised way back on 1, it's time to scrabble for ideas. Today's just wouldn't gel into anything, so I ended up just drawing a dripping otter.

U is for Unicorn. The classic type of Europe, that is, not the rhinos of yesteryear. And they still aren't horses.

I finally drew the transgendered unicorn two-spirit I've been noodling out for a while. He or maybe she doesn't like her or perhaps his body. He or she thinks it's lying, so is uncertain if he's a she or if she's really a he. Even at 32, it can get her or him crying in self-loathing and frustration. As much as we might wish otherwise, some people can't help but be emotional messes.

R is for Rabbit. Unmindful of the fact that her "pirate" accent is pure Hollywood invention, she battles for Christmas presents. Ahoy, mate!

Some drawings fall together beautifully, each line and concept popping into place as if it had always been there but just needed to be traced over to be seen. Then there's drawings that simply go "thud" no matter how much you work at them. This is one that simply isn't working for me, but since I needed an Inktober picture, ended up as something to practice with anyway. On the bright side, at least now I have an idea what my Holiday card might be for this year.

Q is for Questing Beast. Possibly a now-extinct relict creodont, Bestialatrat pellinorii was a curious creature described with a snake's head, a leopard's body, a lion's haunches, a hart's hoofed feet, and a white coat. Its alternate name, the Beast Glatisant or Barking Beast, comes from sounds from its belly alleged to resemble the yapping of small dogs or foxes. The type specimen appeared in Arthurian legend accompanied by the allegorical editorializing typical of medieval literature, turning it into a symbol of incest, violence, and chaos that would eventually bring down King Arthur's reign.

My interpretation of the Questing Beast from Arthurian Legend, as seen by King Arthur and pursued by King Pellinore and Sirs Palamedes and Percival. Some speculative animal artists on DeviantArt have reinterpreted various legendary beasts as if they might have been real animals whose appearance and behavior had been distorted and misinterpreted by the less scientifically rigorous scholars of the past.

P is for Pfrit. One of the dinkiest of mammals, the pfrit, Aquambulus hirsutus, can walk on water thanks to its light weight and whiskery paws and feet. A terror to mosquito descendents when it stabs its mouth into their larva to suck them dry, it's a boon to wetlands of Eurasia-America 50 millions years in the future.

Perhaps inspired by the artists on DeviantArt who speculate on what future animals might look like, I bring you the pfrit, originally dreamed up by Dougal Dixon in his 1981 book After Man.

O is for Opossum. ♫♪ Doo doo doo-doot-doot ♫♪ Doo doo doo-doot-doot ♫♪ Doot doot doot-doot doot-doot ♫♪ Mah-na Mah-na

Opossums always remind me of Muppets, especially their heads. So this one (incidentally inspired by Zenirix) ends up singing and dancing to a song that was originally in an Italian softcore porn film before it caught on internationally and became a Muppet staple.

Also, I should stop procrastinating so much each day.

N is for Nutria. Nosy Nutria just can't seem to keep her nose out of everyone else's business.

I imagine this is something you don't see everyday: a Sweet Pickles fan character. Sweet Pickles were a series of twenty-six childrens' books from the 70s to the 90s, each featuring one of twenty-six anthro characters, plus an additional fourteen books, a bus book holder, and a series of promos with Avon. Each character had his or her own characteristic personality trait that, during the course of their book, often got them into a little pickle.

L is for Leptictidium. The gals are flirty, skimpy dressers, and perhaps over-friendly when they're in the mood. The guys are not.

Look! It's a male lepti, one of those now extinct mammals enfossilized in the Messel Pits. Mine tend to be more conservative and reserved than their female counterparts. Many don't even like to go about without at least their torsos properly covered.
