SD Lovebirds by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)

Whew! It took a while, but I finished DP's commission (the sketch is further down in my gallery)! He finally got a chance to scan it in, so here it is!

There really weren't many changes lineart-wise between the completed picture and the unfinished sketch. I did fix DP's left arm, which was bothering me horribly. I wish I fixed his hair, too, though... It doesn't really resemble his hairstyle... ^^;;;;; The inking process went pretty well--there weren't any hideous mistakes requiring Photoshopping to repair like in many of my pictures... ^^;;;;

Most of the coloring was done with Prismacolor markers, though I did use some Prismacolor and Kodak colored pencils as well. The t-shirts that the pair are wearing were colored to match the text colors they use in chat. However, due to a mistake I had to fix, Sraph's shirt wound up gold instead of her yellow. There were actually a few mistakes made while coloring this, but I attempted to fix them as best I could. So some colors may have a slightly different tint or be somewhat darker than I originally intended. I even wound up tinting Sraph's upper lip as well as her lower one... But I still think it looks pretty nice!

Originally, I had wanted to do a grassy sort of background for the picture, but I was worried that it might not turn out well and ruin the picture, I left it backgroundless. However, when I finished coloring, it looked so plain with just a white background. I tried to think of something simple to draw for the background and decided on a big heart, since they're such a cute and loving couple! The heart is kinda uneven, but it doesn't look too bad...

It's not a perfect picture, but I did the best I could with it. And DP was happy with it, so all is well! :D

This image is smaller than the version that DP owns.

Thanks... :D But I'm still faaaaar from mastering natural media... Still have quite a ways to go... But I think I've finally gotten better with markers!

To say that I was, or am, pleased with the picture is an understatement, to say the least! Honestly, if I can take a look at that picture and get choked up, I'd think you did an amazing job!! ^_~

I'm glad that you decided to fix what was bugging you in the original sketch and such. And as far as coloring goes, I felt that you did a marvelous job! I know, I just have a very high quality photocopy, but I really think that all of the colors came out really well! And as far as the background goes, I think the heart works far better than a grassy background or whatnot!

All in all, I was REALLY happy with this picture, and I think Tonya was as well. And, honestly, I don't think we can thank you enough for doing such a wonderful job! :D

Yaaaaaaaaaaay, you and Sraphy liked my picture! I'm so happy! :D And I'm glad that the colors came out well enough despite the mistakes that had to be corrected! The heart works well, I think, because it's cute and simple, like the rest of the picture...

Thank YOU for commissioning me... ^-^
