Panda Moon (Colored Original)
Panda Moon (Colored Original) by @Agondray

This is Panda Moon, but also goes by her “superhero” alias; Fire Fox. She is a young adult red panda who juggles her life between her college assignments, caring for her family, and fighting crime. She has taken to learning various kinds of martial arts, as well as certain tools and weapons associated with them. Although she can wield various kinds of weapons, she seems to be most fond of her tonfa batons, as can be in this picture. The main reason she studies martial arts, aside from self-defense, is to also defend the people of her community from the various criminals and gangs that often plague the neighborhood. To protect her identity, as well as her family and friends, she takes on the alias of “Fire Fox” and puts on a mask(not shown) and a different outfit to face the villains without compromising her personal life. Kind, caring, but also willing to fight if need be; she is willing to make her town a safe place for her community and those closest to her.

This is the original colored-in version I did. I was looking up references of real life red pandas to make sure I got the face and the colors right. I also thought that the blue to purple background would work well with Panda’s black, brown, orange, and white color scheme and help her stand out. Overall, I think the whole thing looks great, and it’s one of my favorite pieces I made to date.

What do you think?

Fun fact: Another name for the red panda is indeed ‘firefox’, and is the origin of the web browser of the same name!

@Cynicallia: Ohh no! Unless you can match her in martial arts fighting, that would be most unwise!

@Agondray: I used to own a collapsible police baton (it was legal in the area where I lived). I definitely don't need to start trouble with someone who duel wields them.

@Cynicallia: Honestly, I wouldn’t either.

That’s pretty cool that you used to own a baton. I myself own 4 katanas (3 of which are in a set), a machete, and a sword that the guy I bought it from made himself. Not to sound like I’m bragging, of course!

@Agondray: Not at all, hahaa, I can toadally relate. I used to have dozens of swords and veeery fancy art knives. I gave most of them away when I was going through some rough times. I still have my favorite scimitar, trident, and a Kilgorin (Kit Rae). It's always fun to find peeps who like to talk about sharp things.

@Cynicallia: Indeed, it is!

What do you think?

The face and tail are sharp; text is mostly legible, though the browns are a bit faint. I would have reinforced the outlines: I'm not sure if details were lost in the photo, but flat colouring plus strong hues means the body blends into the background, especially around the jeans. This is about as good as I ever got with coloured pencils, so you have my sympathy. :P

@Thorvald: I can kinda see what you seen. I was experimenting with my photo editor, trying to make this pic look clean and show as much of the detail as possible. Now that you mention it, I could have used less browns and more oranges, yellows, and white for the text. Outlines definitely could’ve used some work too! Also now that I look at it like this, perhaps the blues in the background wasn’t the the best choice. Maybe a yellow background would’ve made everything stand out more?

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it!

@Agondray: Yeah, purple fading to yellow might make a sharper contrast.

Happy to be of service. o/
