Unexpected Proposal
Unexpected Proposal by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)

My submission for round 5 of RPGamer's OmniArt contest! The subject was anything having to do with weddings, from proposing through the honeymoon! I chose to have Flonne proposing to Laharl...

Now, this picture looks fairly crappy, especially the coloring. I was lazy as always, but there was the added benefit this time of both having Janus come to visit AND Hurricane Dennis knocking out power for 56 oh-so-wonderful hours, so unfortunately, the inking and coloring were very much a rush job... -_- I'd also intended on having a background this time, maybe a nice field or the inside of Laharl's throne room, but there was no time... ^^;;;; Not even time to smooth out the marker and pencil colors... ^^;;;;

BTW, Laharl's left eye is supposed to be twitching and the ever-sneaky Etna is shoving Laharl forward so he doesn't run away from the situation. I forgot to add in little "sound effects (action effects?) for that... ^^;;;;; Flonne, of course, is happily oblivious to this. ^-^ I'd actually originally intended to age the characters slightly for this picture, since they ARE pretty young (in demon and angel years), but I just decided to leave them as is...

Despite the horrible coloring, I do like Etna's pose and Laharl's face... ^^;;; Poor guy.

Done with Micron pens, Prismacolor markers and pencils, and white gel pen with slight Photoshop editting and adding of text and word bubbles.

This is so cute, Nadia! I love it when you draw multiple characters interacting. I don't know much about Disgaea, but all the personalities come across really well here. They all look adorable, Etna in particular! I love everything about her pose, from her pigeon-toed feet to her curling tail ^_^ The coloring & details on her outfit and hair look great, too.

Does Flonne normally have those red accessories, or is she trying to look demon-like for Laharl? Awwww...

That's actually how Flonne looks at the end of the game! =3 I won't say more as to not stick spoilers here... ^^;;;; There's a black leotard under her robe, too, but you can't see it with the angle...

Etna's my favorite part of the picture... =3 She's a very fun and sarcastic character!

Thanks for your comments!

Alright, you need to do more group pictures wherever you can. This is just far too good to just be a one-time thing, contest or not. :D

The characters are excellent, I love all of the poses, and despite what you say the coloring looks quite good! I think Laharl's cape could have come out just a little bit more even in overall color, but that can sometimes be the fault of the scanner.

Also, as a slight and negligible touch up, you may want to remove the black line that seperates the "hook" from the rest of the dialogue bubble for Etna. I think. I don't know, it's probably the most unimportant thing in the entire picture.

Now, do more pictures of the trio! Heck, if you could even manage backgrounds, it would probably be beyond compare. :o

I had a lot of fun doing a group pic! I definitely would like to do more of them! I hope one day to be able to manage backgrounds, too... ^^;;;;; And more Disgaea pics definitely sound like a good idea... ;)

My marker work definitely still needs work. I was low on time, so I didn't have a chance to run a smooth color over Laharl's cape and other rough areas in Photoshop... I wish I did... ^^;;;;

O_O I can't believe I forgot to remove that line in Etna's voice bubble! I never noticed it till you mentioned it...

Thanks a lot for your comments! ^-^
