Kitty in a Flower Patch by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)
My best friend Janus has been feeling down lately, and since he's a big Chrono Trigger, and particularly Magus/Janus and Alfador, fan, I decided to draw a cute cheer-up picture of Alfador in a field of flowers! This is the somewhat cropped non-gift version.
Drawing Alfador didn't take too long, but all those flowers took days to draw because I couldn't do them all at once without going insane... ^^;;;; Inking it wasn't so bad, but when I was coloring it, some of the spaces were so tiny, it was easy for color to leak into other areas... In some places, the green marker leaking into the petals is kinda obvious... ^^;; Shading the flowers was pretty tedious, too, because the flowers and petals overlapped each other in so many ways... I wound up missing a bunch of places that needed shading and airbrushed them in with Photoshop. I also did Alfador's whiskers with Photoshop--really need one of those white pens/markers...
This is probably the most detailed background I've ever done, and quite possibly the most detailed picture overall as well... It was time-consuming, but worth it! At least now I know I can actually do a background if I really put my mind to it... ^^;;;; I really like how it came out, despite the somewhat leaking colors and the fact that the amount of detail made the file size pretty big... ^^;;;; And Janus liked it too, so all the work was worth it! ^-^

Great job, Nadia! I really like how you used mixed media to bring out different textures -- the pencils for Alfador's soft fur and marker for the big, shiny, c00t eyes, etc -- it works really well. Also, the inclusion of a background was definitely a worthy investment of time. Good choice of colors, too.
Another very enjoyable piece to look at. ^_^ Alfador is, in my opinion, one of the most poignant characters in all RPGdom. It's really nice to see him happy. =)

Actually, Alfador was originally supposed to look sad and pathetic and the viewer would just have to smile at him and love him... ^^;;;; You know, kinda like a basset hound... ^^;;; But he just looked too happy for that, so I left him with emotional eyebrows and a smiling kitty mouth... Probably a better cheer-up gift this way than the original... ^^;;;;
I hope that Magus stayed with Alfador or took his kitty with him wherever he went... ;; Kittyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... ;;

It's really adorable (as always), and I'm glad you finally got a background you were happy with. I think it's pretty good, too; the only place the leakage you pointed out is really noticeable is on one of the far left petals...
