Lovebirds
Lovebirds by @steefje (Stephanie Reeuwijk)

Sorry, I can't take this enormous grin of my face. I just like it too much! I'll explain..

This is my first picture completely done in Photoshop. The sketching, coloring, all the other things, all without touching paper or a pencil. I must admit that it took me long...very long. Sometimes it seems that the 'better' I get with PS, the longer my pictures seem to take. I worked on this for about 3,5 weeks, everyday about 2-3 hours. Do the math. But I've already noticed that grin of mine will last much longer everytime I look at it. The picture was done as a design for a card for the 25th anniversy of my parents' wedding. So, naturally, I had to give it my best.

Technical thingies: drawn without reference, just the way I think big fluffy tail lovebirds look like. Drawn in Photoshop with a tablet.

This is gorgeous. You have every reason to be smiling about it. I particularly love the coloring on the purple bird's wings. Your parents are very lucky to be getting such a beautiful card.

Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. I absolutely love their tails. They're so sparkly! ^^ Fantastic job!

Very fun! This reminds me vaguely of Socar Myles and Enayla's style... the painterly realism with sparklies, anyway. :)

You did a nice job of blending different colors in the birds' wings, however, I'd like to see that same variation of colors in the roses; instead of being plain pink with a darker highlight and a lighter highlight, you might want to consider, next time, making the highlight a cooler or warmer color than the pink base color.

Keep up the nice work!

grin even if it reminds you vaguely of Socar Miles' work, that is a huge compliment. I love her work. Thank you. I don't know Enayla, I'll check it out, you made me curious.

Thanks for the tip, I will surely try it in the future. Hopefully I'll get it right.
