Angel
Angel by @Anrui (Jessica Holden)

A portrait of my parents' cat, Angel.

The image was inspired by both the cat's name, and by the Sailor Moon manga where Ami says something along the lines of "That cat suddenly fell out of the sky. I thought it might be an angel" (though in Japanese, of course).

I tried to give it a very ethereal look with the translucent blue wings and the ripples of shining, blue water.

The fur, especially around the head, was surprisingly easy to paint; much more so than drawing it would have been because I could do it in layers.

Really needs something in the upper right corner to balance it, though.

This is gorgeous! The cat is very realistic, and the wings are beautiful - I love it.

I can barely manage colour on a good day, so seeing someone working from black never fails to amaze.
