The Sand God
The Sand God by @besonik (Mike)

This is a redrawing of a picture I did ages ago, this one is a lot simpler but it works so much better than the original with the idea I had.

I wanted to show the idea of the sand being living creatures souls (each grain a different soul) with a god ruling over them. She controls the sand which is constantly falling and rising between the gods hands with every birth and death.

The nether dragon's in charge of the moon, its just a rock because there is no life on the moon.

Not very good at explaining my idea's.. hopefully that makes sense.

The soft shading makes the character feel she's part sand too. I really like the consistant color palette!

Very well done. The dark-colored character, secondary brown coloring, and simple background expresses volumes about this character's personality and attitude. If it weren't for the smaller creature resting on her tail, it would almost be a strictly serious and quite depressing piece. It's quite the eye catcher.

Yeah, I did. I think it's mostly the orientation of the eyebrow. She has it raised slight at the front and drooping at the back, which my brain interprets as a sad emotion. Focused would look more like a scowl with the front of the eyebrow lowered closer to the eye. This might be where people are getting the feeling. Still, it's a great piece.
