Erin Vernon as a mermaid
Erin Vernon as a mermaid by @ryusuke (William Ruzicka)

Erin had asked me sometime ago to draw her as a mermaid. To which she was also kind enough to coach me on the face and breasts. I used samples of fish scales on her. The face and hair were drawn completely in the computer, so the original looks like s**t.

Love the tail. You need to tell me what the technique is, I don't know how to make scales for mine. cries Gorgeous maiden, as well. Think I should say that now? lol

I'm not sure why I didn't web the thumbs. Didn't really occur to me, I guess. I've had a friend comment that the hands are too big, but that's just because large hands indicate someone with power. S'why you see political cartoonists depict politicians they don't like with tiny hands. For the scales I went to Alta Vista's Image search and downloaded a couple B & W pics of fishy scales. I then cut and paste them over and over twisting and turning them till I thought it look convincing. Then merged them to one layer and set it to Overlay, I believe. I should have done a tutorial on this one. I'm gonna start doing that these days.

Ahm.... a bra under water? S'not like she has gravity working against her. Besides, this is what Erin asked me to draw. And I know about Yerf. I'm an artist there. o.o They suck, really... posting is such a pain in the ass and the SLIGHTEST sign of female anatomy and they yank the pic.

You are absolutely spiffy, Go. I am filled with magnificent envy at your mad digital-coloring and fish-scaling skillz.

Wow, it's genius how you used such a simple method to create such a beautiful design for the tail. The dreamy design of this pic is a... well, it's a work of art ~~ True, the large hands do emphasize the powerful outlook of the picture, and the nudity isn't past the border of tasteful... and that's good ~~ Your a truely wonderful artist!

I don't know what to say. This is absolutely gorgeous. The pose is so original, and the big dark tail and short hair makes her so different and unique. Yes, very different from the standard long haired and light colored mermaids. Girls can have short hair too, what's wrong with that? So gorgeous, absolutely awesome. I already said that. Well, I don't know how else I could tell that this is one of the best pics I ever seen featuring a mermaid. I can't color like that....I can't even use a program! Compliments!
