Kate Fletcher's 2001 New Beetle
Kate Fletcher's 2001 New Beetle by @JesterAG (Al Gonzalez)

This is a side shot of an oldie. It's the New Beetle one of the characters in my comic drives around.

This image was created 100% in Photoshop with the pen tool and some custom brushes. I used a stock photo of a New Beetle for reference. I was really tring to put an old look on the New Beetle, harkening back to the 60's when people would paint old Bugs all sorts of interesting color combinations. Plus, Kate is kind of hippie-ish in a way, so this really fit the character.

NOTES: I'm a HUGE fan of Beetles in general, especially the new ones. Sadly, I don't own one, but I did drive one for my job for a while, which made me extatic beyond belief. Those things are soooo fun to drive. And the space...good lord that car is a lot bigger than it looks!

But I digress. Yay for New Beetles, and yay for me, since I'm proud of this design.

Hey, this looks really good! It definitely looks like a Volkswagon, and I like the cute flowers you painted on it! And the VW on the hubcabs looks so real! Neat sky, too!

Thank you kindly. I personally like how this came out. ^_^ I plan on eventually making a 3D model of this if I ever get the free time from work.
