Scuttlers are bulkier variants of Caedadids. At the cost of their flight capability, they have heavy duty chitin and bones and larger claws and . Since they are noticeably slower than other Caedadids they often linger behind the rest of the swarm. They often have to dig up food that others of their kind usually miss and as such their diets are either composed of root vegetables, rodents or even graves.
Most caedadids leave their nest eggs behind, leaving their nymphs to usually fend for themselves. Scuttlers commonly come across these newborn nymphs as they follow behind the swarm and have a tendency to gather them up and raise them. As such coming across a brood of nymphs deep in caedadid territory can be dangerous as it usually means a Scuttler may be nearby.
Many make the mistake of believing Scuttlers to be dim-witted. The truth is that their often slumbering personality is merely a necessity in order for them to expend as little energy as possible due their heavy bulk. In actuality they are as sharp as the rest of their kind and are in fact capable of the same bursts of speeds, albeit for brief moments at a time. These unstoppable variants can ram through armored formations and fortifications making them excellent siegebreakers.
