Mr. Pink
Mr. Pink by @deaddays (John Rios)

HA! Who says my painting skills suck???? Well, I guess I do. But boy am I going to feel stupid when I see THIS! It's a project for my rendering class on POSTERIZATION. Sure you can do it with the computer in 2-10 seconds (depending on how much RAM you have) but wheres the skill in THAT? Nope, not fun. I posterized this baby the hard way. I like how it came out. And of course, like any other painting in the world, The scan craps it all up. Enjoy MR. PINK from Reservoir Dogs. Artwork © Copyright 2003 John Rios

hooray for non-cgi images! this is excellent painting! good style for a poster too (is that what posterization is?), it'd be pretty easy to reproduce and stuff.

plus guys in black tie and white colar shirts is one of my favourite subject matters. i like the blues brothers look, don't you?

I have to applaud that work! Posterization by hand takes forever. I once posterized an ad for a color palm pilot to gray tones. It was funny, 'cuz the ad said "Pure color" heheh. I actually have a crit for this-- the pure white highlights on his skin seem kind of out of place with all the nice warm colors in the rest of the picture. It almost looks unfinished.
