Scarlet Macaw
Scarlet Macaw by @Jocarra (Jen Philpot)

I painted this for Theglavwen's dad as his Christmas present - he has a thing for parrots. I decided to go for a more painterly style. It was fun :3

WIP images can be found here: http://jocarra.deviantart.com/art/Scarlet-Macaw-progress-72389842 Reference photos used for parrot.

~8 hours Adobe PhotoShop CS3. 22.

This is really beautiful. The way you captured a soft effect is great. I can never get a painterly style in Photoshop, but Painter works really well.

Thank you very much, I do appreciate it :3 And yeah, I have Painter, but I haven't really tried it out yet... My learning curve is kinda steep, and it usually keeps me from trying new things ^^;

That's beautiful. I love all the detail you've put into the background, it's quite breathtaking. And the bird looks great, I especially like the shading done on the wing, it looks quite perfect. This is overall, a gorgeous picture!
