THE CAPSULE [Jan 28, 2017]
THE CAPSULE [Jan 28, 2017] by @Fireseeker_Arts (Fireseeker Arts)

Here's another senior project I have done and its honestly one of my favorites. The project was to research on an artist of our choice then make a parody image inspired from one of their works. I chose manga artist, Katsuhiro Otomo for I discovered Akira during this time. I saw the movie and I was fascinated with its art style at the time, insanely detailed backgrounds depicting a dystopian, apocalyptic future, yet have simple characters i could still recognize. It was a nice contrast between the two. Of course, I don't remember much of what I put into the report. HOWEVER, I did have fun making the image. I based my drawing off of the volume 25 cover here:

Akira Volume 25

Of course I had to take some liberties with the style. I still drew Seek like how I usually do, but with eyes were inspired by Otomo's. I am also not as detailed as him either. But hey, it actually pushed me into trying to draw things I am not usually the most comfortable with drawing, particularly vehicles! Looking back now, it makes me want to try on this piece again in the future. Or heck, maybe study more of Otomo's work to push me to draw different things I am not used to, similar to how one of my biggest inspirations, Kazuki Takahashi, pushed me to learn to draw not just people but in general!

Character belongs to me
