Colorful Smile
Colorful Smile by @Darrow (Darrow)

This is Fuchsia Maramooray, my latest character in the new FFB. At first I was going to dig up Wakka, or maybe decide on Raz(the puppet man), but decided characters with more range like Taro/Ruler Taro are a lot of fun to play.

Fuchsia is normally a kind, innocent person, but because of bottling his anger up for so long, he developed a second persona...a persona....of chaos! Dun dun duuuuuunnnnnnn. Smiling Fuchsia is just your ordinary, average guy who...well, is a little -too- nice. When Fuchsia brings out his sword or gets hit, he becomes Crazy Fuchsia(upper right). This is pretty much the shouting, "BUUUUURNING!" Fuchsia that comes up most of the time. But then...when things are going really bad...BAM! Pissed Off Fuchsia(upper left) comes out and starts going to town on these mothas. But that's a side to him that doesn't come out too often. Ordinarily, however, Fuchsia is a fairly calm and collective person. I went over his design a bit and wanted to make a purply theme, with...purple and....more purple. Oddly enough, I stayed 100% true to the sketch in my mind before I drew this, so I was pretty excited about it. Kinda frustrating when things get lost along the way and you have to settle for less. The outfit design sorta worked itself out, and I wanted something that was colorful, but more appealing to the eye without being extremely bold and bright.

My favorite parts of pictures, usually, is the face. I'm a face man, I must say. Going over the faces, I was trying to express happiness, anger, and insanity within the three. I mean, let's face it, Fuchsia has friggin' problems. This guy is mental. But it's all....in the FACE! Happy Fuchsia always has closed eyes and a generally happy smile. He also tends to whistle a lot. Pissed Off Fuchsia has a very sinister, almost disturbingly evil expression on his face all the time. His eyes are always squinted just to the point where you can think "Wow, this guy is friggin' evil. Holy crap." because his face is just telling you "Wow, this guy is friggin' evil. Holy crap." The grin of eeeeeeevil doesn't help, either.

On the other hand, there's Crazy Fuchsia. Not as dangerous as he may look, but very crazy. In this mode, he's always walking around with his eyes wide open and a "Let's get those guys!" expression on his face. Always ready for a fight and burning with determination to...smash things. The background in this picture was very simple, but a lot of fun. I basically just shoved a bright gradiant in the back because the soothing blue is nice symbolism of how calm and friendly Fuchsia normally is. The black mass in the top, aside from being a means to work the faces into the picture, was pretty much symbolism of the darkness inside Fuchsia and how it's overtaking part of his normal self. The mass of black stops short maybe a little over 25% of the background, showing that is how much of Fuchsia's mind is ruled by these two personas.

When I finished Fuchsia's design, I was looking over his face, but it seemed like something was missing. Oddly enough, I drew a line coming out from his right cheek, and it just seemed perfect after that. No fancy stories, folks. It's there because a wizard did it. Damn ye wizards!!

Another colorful, crazy design of yours, Da-kun! It's sad not to have Wakka and Willis around anymore, but Fuchsia a wild and craaaaaaazy guy, and his design shows it! The evil Fuchsia is FEAKY-looking, with that glowing red eye... You know what the two crazy faces remind me of? Kyoji! "It's all because of that guy! That guy!!! THAT GUY RIGHT THERE!!!!" Wonder what sorts of chaos either of Fuchsia's other personas have caused...? And the faces are my favorite parts of the picture, too!

Like I told you before, I likes the scar on his cheek, though you really shouldn't blame those poor wizards... And I thought it was cool that Fuchsia has a yin/yang symbol in his design.. Go purpliness!
