Te Wananga Whakairo Rakau by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

Maori national School of Carving, Te Puia, New Zealand. The Maori Arts and Craft school was originally established by prominent MP Apirana Ngata in 1926, and received national recognition as the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute in 1967 as a means of promoting and safeguarding creative tradition. Since its '67 inauguration, it has built and restored over 40 whare whakairo, meeting houses with elaborate carved architecture symbolizing body components of its home tribe. The School of Carving is male-exclusive.
