Also known as Nergüi; a secret service agent of the Co-operative Federation of Xinjiang in the IOT spin-off The Multipolar World. In 2168, he is made commander of Special Task Force 0, spearheading Operation Mantis three years later, a counterintelligence campaign to find and eliminate terrorists affiliated with the deposed "China Six". His name is a play on the mal-entendre of the Johnny Rivers song "Secret Agent Man"; his persona is akin to an anti-Bond: a fearless super-spy but stringently no-nonsense.

When the Monarchists invade in 2173, Xinjiang's security force folds into the Scarlet Lancers; while the "National Army" and its network of covert state allies plot the counterinvasion, STF-0 works to sever their influence and escape routes to seal them within China proper. Mantis' endgame dovetails with the beginning of Operation Shah Mat, and in the novelized epilogue Blood Red Dawn the agent leads a detachment to intercept the royal convoy when it attempts to flee Ürümqi, fighting side-by-side with the Red Lotus during the siege at the middle school, and Christos' final stand at the power station.

If-and-when the epilogue is finished, I have plans to chronicle his exploits during Operation Mantis in a spin-off series, Danger Man. At the very least, I want to sketch a cover image, inspired by this music.

Trivia:
  • His appearance is directly sourced from the Modern Era variant of R8XFT's Attila the Hun leaderhead for Civilization III.
  • The name Nergüi is an 'avoidance name' literally meaning "No-Name". Originally a placeholder appellation for the Civ4 mod, it was canonized when the "contest draft" of Blood Red Dawn began later that year (2014).
  • He receives a thematic nod in Multipolarity II, in which an intelligence officer of the Federal Union is named Ganbataar.
  • Nergüi is an alternate leader option for the Scarlet Lancers in the IOT Civ4 mod. Organized and Aggressive, his AI personality is colder and more militaristic than the Red Lotus while remaining loyal to friends, retaining a strong emphasis on espionage. He uses the same diplomusic.
Relationships/Ties:

Jianguo Deming, Huiqing Da et al.
Head of state and head of government respectively during the Co-operative Federation of Xinjiang; he cameos as an attendee to Deming's address at the founding of the Federal Union of China at the conclusion of Blood Red Dawn.

The Red Lotus
Leader of the Scarlet Lancers who collaborates with Xinjiang's security service and assumes emergency command of state forces amid the Monarchist invasion of 2173, becoming de jure boss after the surviving army merges with the Lancers. During the assault on Ürümqi in the epilogue, they link up to apprehend the China Six.

Lan Xiurong
Comrades-in-arms following the amalgamation of CF Xinjiang's government forces into the Lancers' "National Army" during the Monarchist invasion in 2173; both are involved in VIP apprehension missions during Operation Shah Mat.

The China Six
Their capture is the ultimate objective of Operation Mantis. By the start of Operation Shah Mat, Nergüi's team has burned their trails all the way back into China itself and is acting as a sleeper cell in the capital. The epilogue reveals that if they threatened to escape the final offensive, a kill order was in the wings.
