The confrontation happens, though in the end Duke doesn't kill the assassin out of sheer hate, but in a last, desperate attempt to save his own life. But the anger and hatred were present as well, and even though the man was treacherous, Duke is horrified by what he's done and what he felt. He's never felt more alone.
Assassin's character design was based on Gin, but I swear it wasn't him. XD; Hair's too short, anyway. And it'll be brown.

The idea of it being Gin made me laugh a little, I have to confess...like he wandered in from another part of your gallery and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. XD
I really like the way Otogi's sunk to his knees here...I remember a couple of your kneeling!Malik pictures, and you've improved so much since then. I'm kind of wondering about not!Gin's position, though...is he slumped over something, or is this a return to the, uh, hill? XD
I really, really like the pose and expression here...the picture really tells the story, and the emotion really comes across. Question: is that a bullet wound on Otogi's leg? D:

I'm really happy with the kneeling. X3 And not so much with the assassin's position. XD; That ... definitely needs work.
I'm glad the expression came out good! ^^ It wasn't quite what I had pictured, but it seemed to be as close as it wanted to get.
And yes, it is. o.o It just grazed him, but still.
