Government Buildings
Government Buildings by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

Contrary to its appearance, this complex is built entirely from kauri timber. In addition to being far cheaper than stone, it also proved more resilient to earthquakes. Completed in 1876, it was the original house of the Cabinet and Wellington's entire civil service; today it is a historic reserve with free public visits to the first two storeys every weekday. Naturally, we'd arrived Sunday.

There’s no way I would’ve believed it were made of anything else but stone if you didn’t say it, that’s wild! Very nice!

@bobambee: Needless to say if I ever return, I know one place I'm definitely revisiting. :B
