Hello, Side7!
Just heard about this place and figured I'd check it out. As my profile says, I'm a furry writer and sometimes artist. If you want to know more about me in general, feel free to ask! I have accounts on around a dozen different sites, which you can find in my carrd link.
My big project for most of this past year (since the middle of March) has been a story series called Mystic Heart Odyssey. It's a furry adventure romance story set in a more primitive fantasy setting.
Lykou is a chronically upbeat, overly-friendly konuul (husky/wolf hybrid, basically) who dreams of seeing the world outside his home's secluded and largely isolated forest valley. Kuna is a jumpy, sarcastic, and antisocial sereva (deer, basically) who has trust issues and a troubled past. During a sudden and ominous freak thunderstorm full of strange magical energies, the two end up inadvertently taking shelter together in a small cave, where they end up spending the night to wait it out.
When they wake up the next morning, they find themselves transported to a strange far-away land. Forced to work together to survive and get their bearings, they end up traveling together and going on a series of adventures as they journey around a large and strange world in search for the way back. Along the way, they get to know more about themselves and each other, and gradually go from strangers to the best of friends, and eventually something more.
The story is now broken into parts or 'episodes', most of which are multiple chapters in length. I'm currently working on episode 6, "In the Shadows of Kryckwood", but as you can see I currently only have the first chapter of the first episode, "Strangers in a Strange Land" here. I'm thinking about posting a few more and seeing how they do here. If there's enough interest, I may post the rest, pending figuring out an easier way to properly batch-convert all those odt files to html. Otherwise I'll probably wait until this site has Postybirb support. In the meantime, if you're interested, you can also read it on AO3, Weasyl, or SoFurry!
If you do read it, PLEASE leave a comment! I'm always eager for feedback! It's the only way I can grow, after all!

Ooh, a writer! We don't have many of those (I alone account for about half the literature submissions XD ) and fewer working to long form.
As luck would have it, literature can be submitted from several file formats including .odt, and they'll be translated into basic HTML. There are a few idiosyncrasies (underline becomes italic, section anchors tend to break and get stripped in editing) but for simple formatting it should parse correctly. If they don't copy over from the upload, hyperlinks and image hotlinks can be edited back in.
@Thorvald: Woo, heyhey fellow writer! :D
I tried initially submitting via .odt, but for some reason it didn't translate the formatting at all, from what I could tell. The main issue is the italics, which just weren't there at all. Oddly, that's the same problem I had with a certain tool (whose name I can't remember off the top of my head) I tried using for batch conversion a while back, heh. I guess those conversion tools just don't like italics in odt, for some odd reason. o_O
@Thorvald: Really? Wonder why they'd change it. <i> makes so much more sense! Ah well. Yeah, if I had to guess, that's probably the issue. In any case, I have an idea for a potential way I might be able to batch-convert things, so maybe I'll have a workaround for myself soon. Thanks for the reply!
@Lloxie: You're welcome. ;3 Remember: I'm pulling for you; we're all in this together.!
@Thorvald: The system that I use for document translation is called Pandoc. It is the best option for what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, it does have its quirks.
@BadKarma: Oof, yeah, that would explain it. I tried using Pandoc a while back to batch-convert a bunch of chapters, but it never got the formatting for some reason. Seems like it just doesn't like odt. Very frustrating.
@Lloxie: Yeah, I keep hoping they'll put out a patch to help with some of the translation quirks. I haven't seen one yet.
@BadKarma: IIRC that's been a known issue for a long time now, unfortunately. So I won't hold my breath. But hey, who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us, heh.
@BadKarma: Sure thing, and thanks! ^^
WELCOME TO SIDE 7 YAY !
