Zak's vent(remastered)

crossposted from both here and here and remastered to be less egoistical as well more updated

there's conundrum related to my favorite series/universes. I has been talked about this before, but I need to talk about it in more detail. my favorite Pokemon characters are Ash, Misty, Tracey, and Melody while my favorite Digimon characters are Taichi, Yamato, Sora, Koshiro, Mimi, Joe, Takeru, and Hikari. I think I have problem of loving them preventing me from using Digimon and Pokemon characters from any canons other than first 2 seasons and Mainstream anime respectively, worse the actual show where my favorite Digimon and Pokemon characters came from are have it's writers utterly chickening out from having any superpowered beings that aren't strictly mons, my attachment to them hampering me from even using any other mon animes for Digimon and Pokemon substitutes in any mon anime crossovers with namely Kingdom Hearts and Original Teen Titans cartoon among others. not to mention "all superpowered beings are must not be human" mentality can makes all that counts as people are no more of a sentient than Bluepill humans in the Matrix movies, and ways I find closure is following: 1. give my favorite Digimon and Pokemon humans Superpowers(likely any other mon animes(including even any other Digimon and Pokemon universes) are have balls to give Humans (actual) Superpowers, even only occasionally) where to avoid them from being Mary Sues, I know powering them up is easier to balance than using OCs, as long as my favoritism on them doesn't get on the way of giving them any weakness that their enemies can exploits 2. change the history of Pokemon characters from Tracey accompanies Ash and Company to Johto(and later regions, even when the one that gave me this idea stops Ash's journey after Ash win Johto league while when I adopt this Idea, I make Ash and company continue their journey to Hoenn even after Ash win Johto) 3. I give Digimon Adventure universe similar treatment to Pokemon anime universe(among others) in my mega-crossover, where the divergence points to alternate Digimon Adventure 02 canon(that my mega-crossover uses) lies somewhere between Our War Game and the day where 8 Original Digidestined gave up the powers of their crests 4. if above fails(likely the universes where my favorite Digimon and Pokemon characters hails from automatically considers anyone that more powerful than Normal Person as Mons or Mary Sues), I do Deconstruction of Canonical Settings(of any universe that my mega-crossover uses) 5. ditto, except applies to our universe(speaking of "Deconsttruction of canonical settings"), where lot of Real world conspiracy theories are in fact, no more of a conspiracy theory than any humans in Pokemon universe getting superpowers 6. and the Crown jewel of this was thinking and working on my mega-crossover project

plus this complex hampering me from enjoying Digimon Adventure Tri and Last Evolution Kizuna as well possibly upcoming Digimon 02: the Beginning.

on the topic of fanfic, this psychological complex applies to fanworks as well (and the considerable part of this complex are have to do with Actual Show's writer(of Digimon and Pokemon, especially when my favorite characters from those series came from) ageism where the rest of Original Digidestined are replaced for hitting puberty while Ash's travelling buddies are got same treatment with the rest of original digidestined, so having Misty and Tracey for Takeru and Hikari substitutes in the original Digidestined team can upsets me not only this can come from those that thinks everyone else in Pokemon anime except Ash himself ages like regular humans while Ash remains 10, this can be problematic from either ever-increasing age gap between Ash and Misty) where whatever that fanworks excludes Digimon and Pokemon humans, but includes human characters from other mon animes. good example of fanworks that excludes Digimon and Pokemon humans, but treats other mon anime humans fair game was MUGEN Fighting game as well fanon!Imaginationland and things like OBD.

bottom line is: whatever I see my favorite Digimon and Pokemon characters as Puny mortals that inferior to everything else nearby as well whatever people pretends Hikari's Psionics, Ash's Aura powers(along any Superpowered beings that aren't mons in former 2), Ka-pow exclusive stuff, as well conspiratorial, Genuine Supernatural elements and zanier Science Fiction elements never existed in Adventure series of digimon, main anime of Pokemon, Happy Tree Friends, and our world respectively, not to mention those 4 universes treated like no other universes(unless when other universes in question the most "realistic" and more "grounded" ones), it upsets me badly

thanks for listening

this come to play on some people that when making crossover between Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, Digimon, and Teen Titans 2003. they stick and gone with Season 3+ for Digimon instead of Adventure ones as well they're also gone with Manga/games instead of main anime when it come to Pokemon in that crossover

I always forget Ash is canonically 10. Compare him to the Harry Potter cast in the first film: in the English dub at least he's very clearly played as a young teenager. (At least it might help explain his incredible ignorance. :B )

I suppose the obvious counterpoint to "why no Ultra Instinct Ash?" is, then what would you need the 'mons for? Digimon plays a little differently since the plot is about a select group of heroes Saving the World(s)™, but when you think about it, the whole premise of Pokémon is pre-teens running out into the world to capture wild animals, some of whom are very clearly fully sapient, and then dueling each other in a sanitized version of cockfighting. It is, in the Enlightenment mold of "progress", about shackling Nature to Man's will—we fight (and/or work) with 'mons, to supplement our own, human, limitations.

The whole point of Pokémon: The Movie was Mewtwo realizing his cloning project was perpetuating the very subjugation he was trying to escape. Unfortunately, saying "slavery bad, actually" directly contradicts the premise of most of the franchise, so the characters' memories are conveniently wiped to restore the status quo. :/

look at other mons series, whatever it's Yugioh, Megaten Series, Nasuverse, etc. they're can give even kids with mons for their pets Superpowers on their own(likely to make them fight alongside their mons in near-equal terms), even Digimon Seasons 3-onwards did give Humans Superpowers at any occasions, as well some humans in Pokemon(games, manga, and older anime seasons) also has superpowers.

I can also blame those that mistakeing non-powered characters with magical equipments as metahumans whatever I can't think even Yugioh as mons series outside Pokemon and Digimon that got similar treatment to Main anime of Pokemon and adventure series of Digimon
