"Lord Protector" of the Holy Egyptian Republic and subsequently joint leader of the United Arab Republic in Taniciusfox's ATEN and ParsonNathaniel's Imperium Offtopicum XIV, basically a thought experiment on what if Gamal Abdel Nasser went to a madrasa instead of a barracks. A graduate of Al-Azhar University, Amirmuaz was initially a legal scholar within "Kemetic Islam", an alternate-universe syncretism with Ancient Egyptian mythology; he became increasingly active within local politics, and was hired as a government policy advisor. At 32, he was invited into the Faith Council, Egypt's premier religious experts, which selects the head of state in a function similar to Iran's Assembly of Experts, but without the shadow of a Guardian Council.

In the XIV timeline, Amirmuaz is elected Lord Protector in 2099; whereas the head of state was customarily a ceremonial office akin to European presidents more concerned with dispensing spiritual guidance, Amirmuaz leveraged his political experience into active statebuilding through his prime minister Hamid al-Rashad. This caused some concern that Amirmuaz was fusing the executive and legislative branches under himself, but the results cemented his reputation as a visionary and capable leader. In both games, he negotiates the Unity Pact with Syria to form the UAR as part of pan-Arabic aspirations; his political vision twins Islamic principles with secular modernity in what can be likened to a "soft caliphate". A charismatic speaker, he is a staunch defender of humanitarian principles, establishing the UAR as the vanguard of the United Nations in XIV).

Trivia:
  • My resignation from ATEN is announced in-character as Amirmuaz being hospitalized for a heart attack. This is a reference to Nasser's fatal heart attack almost immediately following the 1970 Arab League summit.
  • During the 2106–2112 time-skip following a GM-imposed hiatus in IOT XIV, an assassination attempt is made on Amirmuaz by the OSIRIS death cult. While inspired by the assassination of Nasser's successor Anwar Sadat, it is thematically similar to the attempted assassination by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1954. (OSIRIS is actually an Italian society featured in Omega124's lore.)
  • Amirmuaz is a possible leader of the United Arab Republic in the IOT Civ4 mod. Industrious and Charismatic, he is largely tolerant but will intervene against warmongers, with emphasis on espionage and wonder-building. His peace theme is the MEC loading theme from Battlefield 2; his war theme is the Iraqi victory theme from World War III: Black Gold. Both are also used as Middle Eastern diplomusic in the unreleased Civ3 DYOS mod.

  • The mystery of God
Dislikes:
  • Imperialism, human rights abuses, guiltless Realpolitik
Relationships/Ties:

Bashar al-Assad
Co-leader of the United Arab Republic, functioning as NedimNapoleon's avatar. Though Nedim's rhetoric upheld Assad's IRL Ba'athism and nominally put him at odds with Amirmuaz's open religiosity, in-game he displays unwavering commitment to a shared vision, and in direct defiance of the Syrian régime IRL, invokes international humanitarian principles in a condemnation of the war-criminal Japanese government in IOT XIV.

Hamid al-Rashad
Prime Minister of Egypt, affirmed in both ATEN and IOT XIV, with whom he collaborates to enact his vision for the state. It is unclear if al-Rashad retains meaningful office under the UAR.

Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf
UAR Minister of Information; canonized for the sole purpose of in-character weaponized memery.

Omar Souleyman
UAR Minister of Culture, as pronounced by Nedim in ATEN and inherited in IOT XIV.

Fadia bint Faraj al-Hishami
UAR Minister of Foreign Affairs in XIV, named in official diplomatic exchanges.

Rahman Zahir al-Kader
UAR Minister of Intelligence in IOT XIV, overseeing foreign spy rings, and the creation and operation of the Black Guard later in the game.

Ahmad al-Karimi
Lieutenant General in the armed forces in XIV. Mission commander of the United Nations Vietnam Intervention Force (UNIVFOR) during initial operations, subsequently assigned to the invasion force for Japan proper (Operation Sunset).

Antonis I Laskaris
Emperor of Rome in Act I of IOT XIV; considered weak-willed and unreliable, but reluctantly supported as a check against Greece. Laskaris petitions the UAR for advice on a joint venture with Greece to invade Japanese-occupied Taiwan (Operation Devil-Fish) but fails to adopt most of the recommendations, leading to his death on the battlefield commanding the marine landing.

Takeshi Ruchang
De facto nemesis in Act I of IOT XIV; Japan's fascistic Prime Minister whose imperialist war against Asia leads to an international crisis and the atomic bombing of Cairo, for which his régime is officially condemned as war criminals by the United Nations.

Claudia von Habsburg
Archduchess of Austria and later Kaiserin of the German Empire in XIV; they become unofficial allies over Russian expansionism, and begin direct collaboration to contain Texarkana's successor state, the "Pan-American/Technocratic Union". KaiserElectric and I had joked in private conversation about forming a joint superstate to the effect of "Muslim Barbarossa's Eurasian Caliphate".
